RME Fireface UCX II is a professional 40-channel USB audio interface designed for studio recording, live production, broadcast, location work and standalone audio processing. Its compact half-rack enclosure provides eight analogue inputs, eight analogue outputs, ADAT, AES/EBU, coaxial SPDIF, MIDI and word-clock connectivity, supporting up to 20 input and 20 output channels at standard sample rates. SteadyClock FS, TotalMix FX, DURec direct USB recording and dependable low-latency drivers provide a powerful production and routing system that can operate with or without a computer.

• Record microphones through the two digitally controlled preamps, with professional gain control, phantom power and AutoSet support for quickly establishing suitable recording levels.
• Connect guitars, basses and other high-impedance instruments directly to the two front-panel instrument inputs without requiring external DI boxes.
• Integrate synthesizers, drum machines, outboard processors and other line-level equipment using the eight analogue inputs and six dedicated balanced line outputs.
• Expand the interface through ADAT to add up to eight input and output channels from an external preamp or converter at standard sample rates.

• Create independent monitor, headphone, effects and recording mixes with TotalMix FX, which permits every input and software-playback channel to be routed independently to each output.
• Apply EQ, dynamics, low-cut filtering, reverb and echo during monitoring without permanently recording those effects into the source tracks.
• Use TotalMix FX Room EQ to correct monitor or headphone outputs with nine-band parametric equalisation, delay adjustment and volume calibration.
• Record multiple inputs and outputs directly to a compatible USB storage device with DURec, allowing computer-free capture of concerts, rehearsals and location sessions.
• Store six complete configurations internally and recall them from the front panel for different studio, live, recording or signal-conversion applications.
• Operate the Fireface UCX II without a computer as a digital mixer, format converter, microphone preamp, monitor controller or multichannel recorder.
• Synchronise external digital equipment through word clock, ADAT, AES or SPDIF while SteadyClock FS reduces the effect of incoming clock jitter.
• Use the DC-coupled outputs to send compatible control-voltage signals to modular synthesizer systems.
• Add the optional ARC USB controller for dedicated hardware access to monitor level, speaker selection, talkback, mute and other assignable TotalMix FX functions.
